Meet the experienced and friendly doctor and staff who make Up North Eye Care a proud provider of vision care products and services in Alpena and Rogers City, MI.

Dr. Grabiel is originally from the small town of Sheridan, Michigan and comes from a proud line of Ferris Bulldogs. She earned her undergraduate degree at Ferris State University and completed her Doctorate of Optometry at Michigan College of Optometry. Over the past three years, she had the opportunity to care for patients in a variety of communities, gaining valuable experience in diverse clinical settings. She has a special interest in primary eye care and ocular disease and is passionate about helping patients maintain lifelong visual health. She also hopes to help expand the offices services by adding a Vision Therapy Program in the near future. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Grabiel enjoys reading, collecting graphic novels, crafting, and spending time with her husband and their dog, Poppy.

Dr. Burns was born and raised in Posen, MI. After high school she attended ACC for two years where she played volleyball and softball. She then transferred to Ferris State University where she finished her Bachelor’s Degree of Arts and Science. She moved to Chicago where she studied Optometry at Illinois College of Optometry. She graduated in 2019 with her Doctor of Optometry and moved back home to practice. She was married in 2021 to Branden Burns. They welcomed their 1st child in 2024. She enjoys pretty much any outdoor activity including playing softball, camping, riding side by sides, and fishing.

Terri – Our lovely Receptionist

Terri is the first smile you see (or voice you hear) when you walk through our doors or call our office. She keeps everything running smoothly, from scheduling your appointments to making sure you feel welcome the moment you arrive.

Nancy – Our Skilled Optician

Nancy is your go-to for everything eyewear. She’s an expert at helping you choose frames that fit your style and your vision needs, and she makes sure your glasses are adjusted for the perfect fit.

Our Alpena Staff

Jessica – Receptionist
Jessica is often the first friendly voice or face patients encounter when contacting our office. She helps coordinate appointments, assists with check-in and check-out, and ensures that each patient’s visit runs smoothly from start to finish.

Kiersten– Optician & Testing Technician
Kiersten plays a dual role in our office, assisting with both preliminary testing and eyewear selection. She helps guide patients through diagnostic testing before their exam and works closely with them afterward to find glasses that provide clear vision and a great fit.

Leslie – Office Manager
Leslie oversees the day-to-day operations of the practice and works behind the scenes to keep everything running efficiently. She is committed to creating a welcoming environment for patients and supporting the team so that every visit is organized, comfortable, and focused on excellent patient care.

Martha – Optician
Martha is our experienced optician and is dedicated to helping patients find eyewear that fits both their visual needs and personal style. She takes the time to ensure every pair of glasses fits comfortably and functions perfectly, making the process of selecting eyewear simple and enjoyable.
